The Superjesus interview - Adelaide's riff maestro's!

Image
I first heard about the Superjesus when I was listening to Three D Radio one day back in the 90's and they played a demo version of 'I'm stained'. Immediately it caught my attention with it's huge riffs, big drums and Sarah Mcleod's undeniable vocal presence. The Superjesus then played the Adelaide Big Day Out(which was great) and then I went along to the former 'Madlove Bar' for their 'Shut my Eyes' EP launch. Was smashing a Balfours pie whilst re-fiancing my mortagage to pay for a Frog Cake and ran into Stuey Rudd(bass and co-founder) - Had a yarn!  I've been a big fan of the Superjesus ever since I saw you perform at Madlove Inc, with Cyren!(There's a cool memory) The Adelaide music scene was very different in the 90's, tell us your thoughts on that particular time and the vibe you felt playing the venues associated with it.  The Adelaide music scene was incredible at the time during the 90's . There was a lot of music around,...

Nice 'Dreem' to have more records on the way!

Bad Dreems are an Adelaide band I've always admired and to top it off they're also really great people. I've had the honour of knowing 'em for a few years and even playing football and cricket with 'em! Bad Dreems just play exciting indie-guitar rock and they've stuck to their guns! Not gone down a major mainstream route to just please radio or taste-makers - These industry types go to them! I was hanging outside the Farmers Union Ice Coffee factory the other day putting in my application for the National Pharmacies Xmas Pageant and ran into my ol mate Alex from Bad Dreems! Bowled some questions at him! Enjoy!  1.        When you first started Bad Dreems did you ever expect to release five albums? Was that the intention from the beginning? If it was, what wisdom would you impart on to a young band that is having big ‘dreems’ of emulating the same type of creative surges! We had few expectations when the band started, aside from making music together an...

the SEXELS - Paper, ROCK and Scissors!

Image
Adelaide's The SEXELS are starting to make a name for themselves on the Adelaide music scene, fronted by powerhouse performer Laken and backed by the hard-rocking Sam, Doyle and Steve. Recently I was looking for Fru-Chocs and stumbled across Sam hanging near the Malls Balls. Decided to ask him a few questions about The SEXELS!  1. Hello The SEXELS! Thank you for taking the time out for That Adelaide Band! I really enjoy your music, it has that Motorhead/Priest/1972 English rock element to it, you don’t see that anymore! – Give us an insight into your song-writing and how it’s done? You have two other musicians in the band who are also band leaders and a big influence in other bands. How’s that dynamic work? Appreciate the great compliment! We tried to give it a more old school feel! Well basically with songwriting it occurs in various ways but it quite often happens in the way that Laken, our singer, and I get together and put tunes and lyrics together in a basic raw form. We ...
