Eva Rundle - Exploring Pop Music!
Eva Rundle has been bubbling away on new sounds for a little while now and in amongst her acoustic goodness she is yearning to make an impact on the electronica scene citing Scottish act CHVRCHES as a main inspiration. Eva definately has the voice and presence to make it and I caught up with her recently for a chat
Hi Eva! Thank you for taking time to speak to That Adelaide
Band!
From listening to your new single ‘A Familiar Place’ you
project a slightly
unique performance, reminds me of the UK/Euro dance-scene
ala Pet Shop
Boys etc. When writing this song, was I’m intrigued to
garner your thought
processes when you wrote this song. Are you looking at
launching into this
particular market or stay in the acoustic arena which you
are known for – Or
do both? Tell us!
Throughout my life I have always had such a big influence
and have been inspired by electronic/trace/synth/pop music. My previous song
‘The Sun Comes Up’ was when I lived in the country and mingled in with the
country lifestyle which definitely gave me song writing inspiration as well as
incorporated a country twang voice. My acoustic folk style music is more for my
current cover gigs, I like to try and keep them separate from each other so I
get a good balance of both styles.
I am looking forward to expanding into the electronic,
pop scene where I can explore many different styles and techniques.
What topics do you mainly write about? What inspires Eva
Rundle to tell her
stories to the planet eagerly awaiting! Love, loss,
friendship – I even heard
some Bowie references which is really cool.
I am a big metaphoric fan haha! I love writing about
things that everyone can relate to, whether that be about imagination, real
life experiences and dreams etc.
Favorite show you have ever performed? What was so
awesome about it and
how did it make you feel – And if you could be magically
transported to any
stage on the planet – What stage would that be and why!
One of my favourites shows was when I was 16 performing
for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, I sang a song ‘ Yayo’ from my favourite
artist ‘Lana Del Rey’ and the feeling I had when performing this gave me a
strong sense of connection with each and everyone, I told a story to the
audience with my voice and my soul.
Another favourite show I played at which is more of a
recent one was in Robe, The Caledonian, there were hundreds of people watching
and the entire three hours everyone was up and dancing and singing along. This
gave me such a wholesome feeling and rush and makes me really realise how much
I adore performing for others and the way it makes other people as well as
myself feel, it gives me such a euphoric feeling.
If I could teleport to any stage right now it would be
any music festival around the world. I have always loved going to music
festivals and I can see the connection between the artists and audience, it is
just a different kind of vibe and feeling.
If I ever get to perform on other stages in life around
the world, I’d be sure to know that there would be a great amount of stages
that I’d always want to return to.
Talk us through your future plans – five years from now
where do you want
Eva Rundle to land – What are you doing musically?
My future plans for the next five years is to collaborate
and meet many inspiring people.
To continue releasing my originals until I have a full
set that I can perform with live. I am also going to continue with exploring my
unique style of pop music and sharing it with the world.
If you could tour or support ANY artist – Who would that
be? And what would
be on your tour rider..
I would absolutely love to support Lana Del Rey or
CHVRCHES, they are my favourite go to artists and I have always been inspired
and look up to them.
I feel anything with vibrant colours, contrasts and
sparkle is a must, depending on the song, really going all out with a costume
or a prop that really resonates with the lyrics and meaning.
