Liv's - at the gig!

'Livatthegig' (Olivia) is really breaking through at the moment interviewing some of the biggest stars in music and she has a knack for giving entertaining views on what makes these artists do what they do!

I was intrigued to catch up with this young entrepreneur and ask her about current and future plans and who knows she could be interviewing you in the near future(pending you're kicking it with ya music career!)

I saw that you have done some pretty awesome interviews with interstate and local bands, that must be quite the process to draw out the communication from artists who are about to go on stage or have just come off stage  - do you focus on different questions for different scenarios?

Most of the interviews I’ve done have been before the show, whether that’s hours or minutes before. I mainly focus on keeping artists comfortable and tend to not overwhelm them with tricky questions! I imagine post show interviews would have a completely different energy though, as they have just come off stage, so I’d probably lean more into reflective or spontaneous questions in that situation!

Looking forward, what are your career aspirations when it comes to music journalism, do you see yourself working for a big TV show or even radio? I know you’re still in school so that must be something you’re thinking about!

I honestly think about this everyday… I truly don’t know what I want to do! Before I started the page I wanted to be a paramedic, although now my thoughts have shifted. I truly didn’t expect my page to grow the way it has, so if I could peruse it in the future, I would LOVE too! Juggling the page and year 12 is quite tricky, so I’m super keen to finish school and be able to focus more on the page. But studying journalism is definitely on the cards!

Tell me about your most interesting interview!

I have to say Pete Murray. I absolutely love Pete, I would easily say I’m one of his biggest fans. My mum and I had to wait in this room where Pete would meet us. We were patiently waiting and suddenly heard these loud footsteps. We turn around and Pete Murray is just standing there right in front of me! It was a moment of shock, I couldn’t really believe I was about to interview him. We had the most amazing chat, I’ve never been more nervous! Although, Pete was so lovely and really engaged in the conversation. It’s been months and I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet.

Honourable mention to Beddy Rays and Ball Park Music. They are the first bands I ever heard on Triple J and I started listening to Aussie Indie because of them! A very full circle moment!

If you could interview ANY artist on the planet right now, who would that be?

Ooh good question! My dream Australian act to interview is The Rions. That would be incredible. I have listened to them ever since they released ‘Sadie’. Watching them grow as a band has truly been amazing, they deserve so much success. I think they’ve really have outdone themselves with their recent album ‘Everything Every Single Day’ and if I ever got the opportunity to chat with them it would be a full circle moment. And internationally, interviewing YUNGBLUD would be an absolute dream. He’s such a kind human and has helped me through challenges in my life. I saw him live recently and he is easily the best performer I have ever seen!
